Iran says it will control Strait of Hormuz for the next 30 days
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Iran will assume full management of the Strait of Hormuz for the next 30 days, removing all existing obstacles and restoring the waterway’s full capacity. He said the move is part of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States and that no other country or organisation will share responsibility.
Araghchi warned that any external interference or unilateral action would delay the reopening and raise regional tensions. Speaking alongside Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad, he also called for a new Gulf security framework that excludes outside powers, criticized continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, and urged Washington to pressure Israel to cease those operations.
