Iran secretly executes two Kurdish detainees in Kermanshah prison

Mohyedin Ebrahimi (52) and Hossein Palani Jaf (35), both from Sarpol‑e Zahab in Kermanshah province, were arrested in February 2018 after a clash between Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces and an ISIS‑affiliated group in the Bemo mountains. They were transferred to a high‑security detention centre in Tehran, held in isolation at Evin prison, then moved to Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj before being sent to the central prison in Kermanshah.

Human‑rights group KHRN reported that the two were subjected to torture, denied legal counsel and family visits. On the morning of 14 July 2026 the Iranian judiciary’s official news agency Mizan announced their execution, citing convictions for “armed uprising against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” The executions were carried out in secret at the Kermanshah central prison without allowing a final family visitation. KHRN had previously warned of the risk of execution and noted that nine other detainees linked to the same 2018 incident had been executed in June 2025, while at least eleven individuals from the case had received death sentences from Tehran’s Revolutionary Court.
