Iran security official discusses regional summit and nuclear doctrine

Mohsen Rezai, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, provided updates on a recent four-nation security meeting held in Tehran on October 26. The summit included representatives from Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.

Rezai noted that officials from the participating nations, including Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin and Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, expressed firm stances regarding the threat posed by Israel to regional stability. The discussions focused on regional security, the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, and the necessity for Israel to withdraw from southern Lebanon and southern Syria. The four countries agreed to continue these multilateral discussions to ensure regional security is managed by local nations.

Regarding Iran’s nuclear policy, Rezai stated that while no official decision has been made to change the country’s nuclear doctrine, there are ongoing discussions about whether to maintain the current strategy if new conflicts erupt. He noted that the current policy is based on a fatwa prohibiting the development and use of nuclear weapons.

Additionally, Rezai confirmed receiving a letter from US Vice President JD Vance, noting that while the content is being reviewed, no official response has been issued yet. He emphasized that Tehran requires full compliance with its conditions for any potential normalization processes.
