Iran seeks definitive end to conflict rather than temporary ceasefire

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Tehran is not seeking a temporary ceasefire with the United States, but rather a definitive end to the conflict. Araghchi warned that temporary ceasefires often serve as a precursor to renewed hostilities, characterizing them as a 'repetition of war.'

Araghchi highlighted the mediation efforts of Qatar and Pakistan in facilitating communication between Iran and Washington, noting that relations between Tehran and Doha are currently very positive. He also credited President Masoud Pezeshkian's diplomatic activities with improving ties with Azerbaijan and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Regarding maritime security, discussions are reportedly underway between Iran and Oman to establish a mechanism for safe commercial transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi emphasized that a sustainable regional security framework must be built upon shared security interests and the resolution of economic imbalances.
