Iran sees multiple protests by retirees and university faculty

Multiple protest gatherings took place across several Iranian cities, including Tehran, Ahvaz, Rasht, and Shush. Social Security Organization retirees held demonstrations demanding improved benefits, the correct implementation of salary adjustments, payment of arrears from the first two months of the year, and free medical treatment under Article 54. During these protests, participants also called for an end to death sentences.

In Tehran, faculty members from Farhangian University gathered in front of the Ministry of Education building to protest what they described as forced and discriminatory retirements. The protesters claim that over 320 faculty members were retired against previous board resolutions that allowed service until age 65.

Other demonstrations included former workers of the Shadegan Steel Company and residents of Kamreh-ye Olia in Islamabad-e Gharb, who protested against local water shortages.
