Iran Sentences Afghan Nationals to Death as Executions Rise in Protest Crackdown

Three Afghan men—Afshar Shah‑Ahmadi, Iman Shafaei and Sadruddin Ahmadzadeh—were sentenced to death by a court in Iran’s Isfahan province for alleged involvement in the burning of a police station during winter protests, according to the rights group Hengaw. The group says the men were held for 40 days in an intelligence‑ministerial facility, denied access to families and legal counsel, and that details of the trial remain undisclosed.
