Iran sentences twin brothers to death on espionage charges

The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced 20‑year‑old twins Hassan and Hossein Amiri to death, accusing them of spying for Israel. Judge Iman Afshari presided over the ruling issued by Branch 26 of the court.

The brothers are being held separately in Qezel Hesar prison near Karaj, in a section known as Suite 35, with no right to meet each other. Authorities say the espionage charge is based on images of damaged buildings found on their mobile phones. Human‑rights observers have highlighted the overcrowded conditions, limited visitation and reports of violence within the facility, raising concerns for the twins' physical and mental wellbeing.
