Iran proposes seven-point plan to reopen Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is contingent upon the fulfillment of specific conditions established by Iran's Supreme Leader. Speaking in New York, Araghchi confirmed that Tehran has communicated a “seven-point plan” to the United States through Qatari mediators.
Araghchi indicated that Iran expects a final response from Washington regarding this proposal by Tuesday. He emphasized that current diplomatic efforts are focused exclusively on the maritime situation in the Strait and denied reports suggesting that Iran is showing flexibility regarding its nuclear program.
While the Iranian proposal aims to address the reopening of the strategic waterway, U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly rejected the plan. Meanwhile, the Persian Gulf Strait Authority has issued warnings to commercial vessels against using “illegal” routes, citing risks to safety and future transit restrictions. In response to the regional tensions, Oman's Foreign Minister Bandar Al-Busaidi has called for political restraint and dialogue to reach a peaceful solution.
