Iran shifts military doctrine toward offensive strategy

Iran has announced a shift in its military doctrine from a primarily defensive posture to a more offensive approach. Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, spokesperson for the Iranian military, stated that this transition occurred during recent conflicts, which he referred to as the “twelve and forty-day wars.”

Under the new doctrine, Iran aims to respond to attacks more rapidly and with greater force, potentially ensuring that a counterattack is larger in scale than the initial provocation. Akraminia noted that while this does not automatically mean Iran will initiate attacks, the military does not rule out preemptive strikes if a direct threat is perceived. He cited a previous strike on a U.S. base in Jordan as an example of such an action.

Additionally, the Iranian military has introduced a bounty program targeting U.S. ground forces in the event of an incursion into Iranian territory. According to Akraminia, military personnel and civilians with legal hunting weapons could receive a reward of approximately 5 billion toman (roughly 22,000 to 26,000 USD) for killing or capturing a U.S. soldier.
