Iran signals dual approach of diplomacy and military readiness amid US tensions

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has stated that Iran is prepared to pursue both diplomacy and military action amidst ongoing tensions with the United States. Ghalibaf emphasized that while Iran remains open to negotiations, it must also be ready to use its full military strength to deliver “severe blows” to enemies if necessary. He noted that diplomatic efforts should be used to solidify military successes once an opponent is weakened.

Tehran has indicated that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is contingent upon the United States meeting specific commitments. While seven formal conditions for negotiations have not been fully disclosed, reported demands include an end to the conflict, the release of frozen Iranian funds, and the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade.

Mohsen Rezaee, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, added that Iran has prepared military plans in anticipation of potential U.S. attacks. He stated that if conflict escalates, Iran possesses the capability to target U.S. military bases and interests within the region.
