Iran warns of regional military readiness as Azerbaijan reports mine re-contamination

Iranian officials have signaled readiness for various security scenarios in the Middle East. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that while Tehran criticizes U.S. actions, it does not rule out negotiations as a tool to protect national interests. He also warned that Iran would respond if the UN nuclear watchdog issues a resolution against the country.

Parliamentary official Ahmad Nadri warned the U.S. and Israel against 'playing with fire,' asserting that Iran is prepared for everything from limited confrontations to full-scale war. Nadri noted that recent military experiences have helped Iran address previous vulnerabilities and stated that new attacks on American and Israeli interests remain a possibility.

In Azerbaijan, the National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) reported that since the end of the Second Karabakh War, 438 people have been victims of mines and explosive ordnance, resulting in 73 deaths. ANAMA Chairman Vugar Suleymanov highlighted that climate change is complicating demining efforts, noting that floods and mudslides have caused the re-contamination of previously cleared areas by washing mines into low-lying regions.
