Iran sports officials address women's inactivity and infrastructure gaps

Sports officials in Iran are addressing challenges regarding physical inactivity among working women and the need for improved sports infrastructure. In Kermanshah, Narges Shabani, head of women's sports, highlighted that working women face significant barriers to exercise due to family responsibilities, rising living costs, and limited access to affordable facilities. She noted that a previous directive requiring government offices to dedicate one hour of work time to women's sports was not fully implemented by many managers.

In Kurdistan province, officials met with sports boards in Baneh to discuss the development of championship sports and infrastructure. Farzad Khaki, Director General of Sports and Youth in Kurdistan, reported that the province's per capita sports space is 46 centimeters, significantly lower than the national average of 85 centimeters. To address these gaps, 50 billion tomans have been allocated for the reconstruction of a 1,200-capacity hall in Baneh, and efforts are underway to expand sports facilities into rural areas.
