Iran suffers eight deaths from U.S. strikes as tanker is hit in Oman Strait

U.S. airstrikes on Iranian infrastructure in the south and west killed eight people and injured 20, according to Iran's IRNA agency. The attacks targeted six bridges in Hormozgan province and damaged other facilities such as power lines, ports and railways.

The wave of bombardments, the seventh consecutive night of strikes, also caused at least three deaths and eight injuries elsewhere in southern Iran, according to provincial authorities. Iran warned that further U.S. attacks would continue until calm returned to the southern coasts and the Strait of Hormuz.

In a separate incident, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported that an oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile about 19 nautical miles off the Omani coast near the Strait of Hormuz. The hit caused only minor damage; the crew was unharmed and the vessel continued its voyage.

Iranian media also reported retaliatory missile attacks on U.S. bases in Jordan and Kuwait, and Kurdish forces said a U.S.-led coalition shot down eight unmanned aerial vehicles over Iraqi Kurdish territory.
