Iran warns nations against joining US economic warfare campaign

Iran has warned that any nation participating in the United States' efforts to isolate its economy will be treated as an enemy. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stated that countries refusing to distance themselves from US economic campaigns will face retaliatory actions that could harm their interests.

Rezaei threatened to target US oil and economic interests if sanctions are imposed, noting that while Iran has previously focused on military bases, it could shift focus to economic targets. He warned that such a confrontation would be as intense as an earthquake and suggested that oil exports through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz could be disrupted.

This escalation follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a massive economic operation intended to cripple the Iranian government. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reinforced this stance, stating that any remaining connections to Tehran would accelerate a nation's economic decline.

In response to the growing pressure, China has criticized the US approach, arguing that sanctions will not resolve Middle East conflicts. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has announced the suspension of all trade and financial transactions with Tehran.
