Iran tightens internal security amid US-Israel war
Iranian authorities have intensified internal security measures, especially in Tehran, as the United States‑Israel conflict with Iran continues. Security forces and the religious morality police have increased arrests, enforced compulsory hijab, closed businesses, and pressured students and lawyers, citing the need for national unity against foreign aggression. President Masoud Pezeshkian described the January nationwide protests as a "bitter and unforgettable" coup attempt allegedly orchestrated by U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the government reported that 3,117 people were killed during the unrest.
