Iran nuclear inspections set to resume under US‑Iran memorandum

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities will resume pursuant to the memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran on June 18. U.S. officials, including President Donald Trump and Vice‑President JD Vance, claim that Tehran has agreed to allow the inspectors, while Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi argues that any access will only be considered after a final deal and full sanctions relief. The agency also aims to verify the location of Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, noting that some sites were damaged in recent conflicts. Operational details such as dates and procedures are still being negotiated, but the IAEA stresses its independence and the necessity of verification under the new framework.
