Iran transfers political prisoners to Zahedan and Bandar Abbas

Reports indicate that approximately 30 political prisoners have been secretly transferred from Tehran to the Zahedan Central Prison in southeastern Iran. The transfers reportedly occurred without prior notice, leaving families unaware of the detainees' locations or conditions. According to information provided to the Iranian Human Rights Society, the prisoners have been placed in separate cells to prevent contact with common inmates and to limit their ability to communicate or organize collective protests. These individuals are allegedly linked to the national protests of January 2026.

In a related development, political prisoner Parisa Kamali was reportedly transferred from Yazd Prison to Bandar Abbas Prison without notice. Kamali, who was sentenced to six years in prison and two years of exile following her 2024 arrest in Isfahan, faces charges including “membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran” and “acting against national security.” Her transfer follows reports of critical health issues and previous denials of medical treatment by prison authorities.
