Iran: Two executed in Qom as three others receive pardons
Two prisoners were executed in Qom prison on Monday following convictions for drug-related offenses. The individuals identified are 30-year-old Abbas Mardani from Rey and 38-year-old Mansour Rahiminejad from Varamin. Both had been held in separate cases for several years before being sentenced by the Revolutionary Court.
In separate developments, three death row inmates were spared execution after their victims' families granted pardons. In Tehran, two men convicted of a murder occurring six years ago, Nima and Nasser, avoided execution after securing the consent of the victims' heirs. Additionally, in Shushtar, a murder suspect was released from death row following three years of mediation and reconciliation efforts facilitated by local judicial authorities.
