Iran, US and Oman Establish Hotline and Joint Committee for Hormuz Strait

Iran has agreed with the United States to open a dedicated telephone line and a coordination centre for the Strait of Hormuz. Senior Iranian negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the mechanism will allow ships to contact the centre if any misunderstanding or problem arises, and that Iran will manage the strait under its own regulations while applying international law.

In parallel, Iran and Oman have set up a joint committee to discuss the management of the Hormuz Strait following a delegation visit to Muscat. Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al‑Busaidi said the two sides will issue a joint statement, reaffirming commitment to international law and safe, fee‑free passage. Maritime transport companies remain cautious amid lingering contradictions and the presence of mines, although traffic has risen but stays below pre‑war levels.
