Iran signals openness to US dialogue amid mediation efforts

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with the United States, while emphasizing that Tehran will not succumb to pressure or coercion. Speaking in Yerevan, Pezeshkian criticized US sanctions and described recent US and Israeli military actions as unjustified. He reiterated that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons, citing the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s stance against developing nuclear arms.

Indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States are reportedly continuing through the mediation of Qatar and Oman. Iranian lawmaker Yaghoub Rezazadeh stated that both sides have presented sets of conditions, and Tehran is currently awaiting a response from Washington. Regional mediators have advised Iranian officials not to delay their response until after the US midterm elections, warning that a change in US leadership could lead to more aggressive stances.

In addition to US-Iran relations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed support for a political solution to the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi movement in Yemen. Meanwhile, Iranian officials have noted that a primary condition for any potential agreement is the cessation of hostilities across various regional fronts.
