Iran-War continues as Trump criticizes Tehran's rejection of economic deal

The conflict in Iran has continued for seven months following the rejection of a proposal by the Iranian regime. President Donald Trump, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, characterized the Iranian leadership's refusal of an offer for economic cooperation in exchange for ending its nuclear program and support for terrorism as a ‘big mistake’.

As regional groups like Hezbollah and Hamas have been weakened, Ansar Allah (the Houthis) has emerged as a primary arm of Iran's regional network. The group resumed attacks on Saudi Arabia in July and successfully closed the Bab al-Mandab coast to shipping near Saudi Arabia by September.

Representatives from the United States and Iran held meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York amidst the ongoing conflict.
