Iran warns of naval operations extending into the Indian Ocean

Iranian military leaders have issued stern warnings regarding potential maritime conflict, stating that offensive operations against enemy vessels and destroyers could extend beyond the Persian Gulf into the Indian Ocean. Colonel Ali Mohammadi, a political deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, challenged the United States' ability to maintain naval control and deter Iranian actions in the region.

Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, echoed these sentiments, asserting that any attempt to deprive Iran of its economic rights or development would result in regional insecurity for all parties. Hatami emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is vital to Iran’s dignity and honor, warning that the country would not allow adversaries to utilize this logistical bottleneck while the Iranian people are deprived of resources.

The rhetoric comes amid heightened tensions involving the United States administration. Iranian officials have linked these maritime security concerns to broader geopolitical struggles, suggesting that the strategic reach of Iran’s missile and drone systems allows for expanded operational zones in the event of direct armed conflict.
