Iran warns war could spread across Middle East after US strikes

Iran's military spokesperson warned that U.S. airstrikes against Iranian targets could trigger a broader conflict throughout the Middle East, saying any nation aiding Washington would be drawn into war. He also announced that Iran would retaliate strongly against any threats to commercial and oil‑shipping lanes in the region.

In response, the U.S. Central Command said its latest operation struck dozens of Iranian sites—including air‑defence systems, coastal radars, missile facilities and drones—using fighter jets, warships, manned and unmanned strike drones, marking the first simultaneous aerial‑and‑maritime drone attack. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have hit U.S. bases in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait with missiles and drones, destroying fuel depots and air‑defence assets.

The Iranian power grid has also suffered severe damage from the attacks, with roughly 4,200 MW of capacity lost and over 2,000 substations damaged, forcing nationwide rolling blackouts amid extreme summer heat.
