Iran weather alerts issued for 20 provinces amid heavy rain
The Iran Meteorological Organization has issued orange and yellow weather alerts for multiple provinces due to intensifying precipitation systems. An orange alert is in effect for heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and potential hail in western and northern North Khorasan, as well as high-altitude areas in Alborz, Tehran, and Semnan.
Potential hazards include flash floods, overflowing seasonal rivers, road flooding, reduced visibility, and lightning. Authorities have advised against traveling near riverbeds, engaging in outdoor activities, or camping near mountains. There are also warnings regarding falling rocks and damage to agricultural products.
Yellow alerts extend to 20 provinces, forecasting continued rain, thunderstorms, and wind across regions including East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Gilan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Khorasan provinces, Zanjan, Qazvin, and parts of Sistan and Baluchestan and Hormozgan. A new weather system is expected to enter from the northwest on Friday, bringing increased cloud cover and rain to West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, and northern Kurdistan.
