Iran weather alerts issued for 20 provinces amid heavy rain risk
The Iran Meteorological Organization has issued yellow alerts for approximately 20 provinces across the country due to an incoming weather system. The forecast predicts heavy rain, thunderstorms, temporary strong winds, and potential dust storms in various regions including Gilan, Mazandaran, Kurdistan, Zanjan, and parts of Tehran and Alborz.
Significant risks identified include rising river levels, flash floods, street flooding, lightning strikes, and potential damage to agricultural products and temporary structures. In mountainous areas, there is a risk of rockfalls and slippery roads. Additionally, wave heights in southern waters are expected to reach up to 1.5 meters.
Specific regional updates indicate that while some areas like Gilan may see a temporary weakening of precipitation mid-week, new systems are expected to intensify from Friday through early next week, particularly affecting northern and northeastern provinces like North Khorasan. Authorities advise citizens to avoid camping near rivers, exercise caution during mountain climbing, and prepare for potential disruptions to agricultural activities.
