Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi warns US and Israel of decisive retaliation

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X warning that any threat to Iran’s people or leadership will receive an “immediate and powerful response.” He directly addressed U.S. President Donald Trump, claiming Trump has pledged to “muzzle its pets in Tel Aviv” and warned that if Israel acts independently, “Iran will school them.”

The remarks were made in reply to statements attributed to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who said Iran’s supreme leader is a target for assassination and that the Israeli army is preparing a contingency plan for a possible attack. Araghchi cited the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed in June between the United States and Iran, describing its terms as “crystal clear and public,” and said Iran would act decisively against any military action against its leadership.

The exchange occurs amid ongoing diplomatic contacts in Doha involving the United States, Qatar, and Pakistan aimed at implementing the memorandum and addressing Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security concerns.
