Iranian judiciary pursues legal cooperation at BRICS summit in India

During a BRICS judicial summit held in Delhi, India, officials from the Iranian judiciary highlighted efforts to strengthen international legal cooperation and address perceived violations of Iranian rights. Seyed Ali Kazemi, spokesperson for the Iranian judiciary, stated that the mission aimed to pursue legal rights following actions attributed to Israel and the United States, while also designing new legal mechanisms and enhancing judicial cooperation among member states.

In a specialized session regarding the cross-border enforcement of foreign arbitral awards, Nasser Seraj, Deputy for International Affairs of the Iranian judiciary, discussed the potential for BRICS nations to create a new model for legal and judicial cooperation. He noted that while BRICS countries possess diverse legal systems, this variety offers an opportunity for exchanging experiences and developing innovative solutions. Seraj emphasized the importance of the 1958 New York Convention in establishing standards for the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards to ensure predictable dispute resolution in international trade.
