Iranian Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Hides with Couriers, Skips Phones

Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has avoided using any phone or computer for roughly three months, shifting to a secret network of couriers and messengers who do not know the content of the messages they carry. This low‑tech approach is intended to keep him out of reach of Israeli Mossad and U.S. CIA surveillance, which find electronic tracking in Iran extremely difficult.

Former Mossad unit head Rami Igra noted that human agents are now the primary means of locating the leader, saying, “Mojtaba may not use a phone, but if he does, he has other means of communication, like pieces of paper.” High‑level American sources confirmed that Iran remains a hard environment for intelligence operations, limiting the effectiveness of modern electronic methods. Khamenei has stayed out of the public eye since late February, after the assassination of his father, former Agiatalach Ali Khamenei, and continues to move his location for security reasons.
