Iranian Parliament Speaker Qalibaf says Hormuz Strait will reopen only on Tehran's terms

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated that the strategic Hormuz Strait will be reopened only under arrangements set by Tehran, rejecting any reopening based on U.S. threats. He warned Washington that intimidation and broken promises will have a price, saying “if you strike, you will be struck.”

His comments came after the United States conducted a second wave of air strikes on Iranian targets in response to Iran’s alleged attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait. Iran retaliated against sites in neighboring Gulf states, while the U.S. had previously warned of “much worse” consequences if Iran continued targeting passing ships. Navigation through Hormuz, a key artery for global energy supplies, has been only partially restored following a recent U.S.-Iran memorandum aimed at ending hostilities.
