Iranian President warns of global economic shocks
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned of severe consequences for the global economy due to military conflicts involving the United States in the Persian Gulf region. Speaking at a gas exporters' summit in Moscow, Pezeshkian stated that U.S. military interventions are disrupting price formation, energy supplies, and energy transportation processes.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also criticized sanctions against the Iranian energy sector during the economic forum, noting that such measures have harmful consequences for both producers and consumers. He called for an end to conflicts.
Concerns regarding an escalation of open warfare between Iran and the United States or Israel have increased in recent weeks. While Russia and other nations have expressed interest in mediating between Tehran and Washington, Iran continues to seek military support from the Kremlin, specifically regarding modern fighter jets and air defense systems, though Russia's capacity to assist is limited by the war in Ukraine.
