Iranian Prisoners Launch ‘Tuesday No to Execution’ Campaign Against Death Penalty

A nationwide campaign called “Tuesday No to Execution” has entered its thirteenth week, with prisoners in 59 Iranian prisons staging a hunger strike to protest a surge in executions. Since the start of the month, authorities have carried out 35 death sentences, including a child, a woman, and three protesters from the December uprising. Twenty‑eight of those executions occurred between August 6 and the present, prompting the campaign to call on political parties, trade unions, civil society groups and human‑rights organisations to join a collective demand for the right to life and an end to capital punishment.

The campaign’s statement also condemns the government’s use of war rhetoric and foreign intervention, arguing that only organized popular power can achieve freedom, equality and an end to oppression. It urges solidarity with all death‑row inmates, regardless of their alleged crimes.
