Iranian Revolutionary Guard vows retaliation for Ismail Haniyeh killing, says Hamas disarmament plot failed
On the second anniversary of the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement condemning the killing as a major breach of international law and Iranian sovereignty. The IRGC declared that the alleged plot to disarm Hamas has been strategically defeated and pledged that vengeance for Haniyeh and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is inevitable.
The communiqué accused Israel of the murder, criticized the United States and Western governments for their military and political support to Israel, and labeled them as complicit in alleged war crimes and genocide. It also asserted that the final victory of the Palestinian resistance over the Israeli occupiers is nearer than the enemies imagine.
