Iran Revolutionary Guard threats to US and Israel

On August 2, 2026, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) marked the second anniversary of the killing of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The IRGC condemned the assassination as a breach of Iranian sovereignty, blamed Israel, and warned that retaliation for Haniyeh and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was inevitable, framing the incident as part of a broader Israeli-U.S. campaign against Palestinian resistance.

A week later, on August 8, the IRGC issued a broader statement claiming that the United States and Israel had failed in their declared wars against Iran. It portrayed Washington’s efforts as a “document of American surrender,” asserted that global media now recognized Iran’s negotiating strength, and warned of a hybrid cyber-and-AI-driven information war aimed at sowing division within Iran.

In subsequent remarks on the same day, IRGC officials, including Brigadier General Hassan Zadeh of the Mohammad Rasulullah Corps, expanded on this narrative of adversary failure. The IRGC asserted that despite military actions and information warfare, the United States and Israel failed to achieve primary objectives, specifically failing to dismantle Iran's nuclear program or create a rift between the Iranian people and their political system.
