Iranian Rial loses value against US Dollar and Pakistani Rupee
On August 18, 2026, the Iranian Rial (IRR) experienced a loss in value against both the US Dollar and the Pakistani Rupee. In the Iranian free market, the US Dollar was trading in a range between approximately 1,872,000 and 1,882,000 IRR.
In Pakistan, the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) showed mixed trends against major international and Gulf currencies. The US Dollar was quoted at a buying rate of Rs278.40 and a selling rate of Rs278.80. Other notable rates included the Euro at Rs320.05/Rs325.55 and the British Pound at Rs374.89/Rs380.84.
Regarding the exchange between the two regional currencies, the interbank rate suggests approximately 6,750 Iranian rials for one Pakistani Rupee. However, in the open market, a bundle of 1 crore Iranian rials was selling for between Rs5,000 and Rs6,000, a decrease from the Rs8,000 to Rs10,000 range seen in June and July 2026.
