Iranian security forces arrest relatives of protester killed in Isfahan

Security forces in Iran have reportedly arrested the parents and 20 relatives of Rashed Saleh Dastejordi, a 21-year-old who was killed by gunfire during protests in Isfahan in January 2026.

The arrests took place on July 31, coinciding with the birthday of the deceased. According to reports, the family had invited close friends and relatives to gather at Dastejordi’s grave to commemorate his birthday. Following the gathering, security officials allegedly accused the family of organizing an illegal assembly that threatened national security.

Reports indicate that the detainees were initially taken to an unknown location. Subsequently, women were transferred to Dowlatabad Prison, while men were moved to Hashtgerd Prison. The mother of the deceased was reportedly released after several days due to concerns regarding her deteriorating physical health.
