Iranian weather agency warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms and dust storms across dozens of provinces

The National Center for Weather Forecasting and Disaster Management in Iran announced that heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong gusts and occasional hail are expected in multiple provinces—including Gilan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Ardabil, West and East Azerbaijan, North Khorasan, parts of Semnan, Khorasan‑Razavi, Zanjan, and the highlands of Tehran, Alborz and Qazvin—starting Wednesday, July 3, and continuing through the weekend.

The forecast also calls for increased cloud cover, rain and dust‑raising winds in the north‑west, north‑east and Caspian‑coast provinces from Thursday to Sunday, with possible dust storms in southern and eastern regions. Temperatures are projected to reach 44‑45 °C in Ahvaz, the hottest area, while Shahr‑e Kord could see lows around 9 °C. The agency warned that dust from Iraq may drift west‑south‑west over Iran, and that seas around Oman, the Caspian and the northern Persian Gulf will be rough over the next three days.
