Iran's Pezeshkian calls for end to war with U.S. from position of strength

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for an end to the conflict with the United States, asserting that Tehran is currently in a “position of strength” and dignity. Speaking during a meeting with doctors, Pezeshkian claimed that the international community recognizes Iran’s victory and accused the U.S. of violating international rules by attacking schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.

The President’s remarks follow accusations from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, which labeled U.S. actions as “economic terrorism” and “crimes against humanity.” This rhetoric comes in response to Washington’s announcement of intensified economic sanctions designed to increase pressure on Tehran.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that Washington aims to achieve the collapse of the Iranian regime through this sanctions campaign, occurring approximately six months after the onset of the war. Meanwhile, China has criticized the American initiative, arguing that U.S. pressure and sanctions will not contribute to resolving the conflict in the Middle East. The United States has called on other governments, specifically Beijing, to join efforts to isolate the Iranian economy.
