Iran President Pezeshkian denies nuclear ambitions and calls for dialogue

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has denied claims that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, labeling such reports as ‘malicious propaganda’ and ‘lies’. Speaking on the sidelines of the COP17 biodiversity summit in Yerevan, Armenia, Pezeshkian emphasized that Tehran remains open to dialogue but will not succumb to external coercion or US pressure.

Pezeshkian criticized US sanctions as ‘unjustified and inhumane’ and warned that continued economic pressure could worsen global stability. He also expressed concern regarding the environmental impact of military operations, stating that strikes on industrial and energy facilities cause lasting damage to ecosystems, water resources, and soil.

During his meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Pezeshkian proposed establishing a clear timetable to enhance bilateral cooperation between Iran and Georgia, particularly following the recent suspension of aviation links due to US sanctions. Kobakhidze stated that Georgia opposes foreign interference in the internal affairs of neighboring nations but noted that Tbilisi does not impose its own bilateral sanctions on Iran.

These diplomatic efforts occur amid reports that the US military is considering strike options against Iranian energy and nuclear infrastructure, including the potential use of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB).
