This stance follows reports of a new Iranian military doctrine that allows for preemptive action against perceived threats and claims of expanded ballistic missile capabilities.

Tensions have escalated following reports of Iranian ballistic missiles being launched toward American warships and subsequent U.S. strikes against three Iranian tankers. Additionally, Iran has sought to implement a de facto restriction on transit through the Strait of Hormuz, proposing a controlled route for vessels, though the White House maintains the strait remains open.
