Iran's Revolutionary Guard clashes with Kurdish fighters, six killed

Six Kurdish Peshmerga fighters were killed in a clash with Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday night near the village of Qazqapan, about three kilometres from Piranshahr in western Iran, close to the border with the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region. The Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) reported the names of the fallen combatants and described the IRGC as the ideological army of the Islamic Republic.

Iran routinely targets Kurdish opposition groups operating in its western provinces, labeling them terrorist organisations. The incident follows heightened rhetoric over alleged foreign support for Kurdish militias, with Tehran warning of further actions if fighters cross the border.
