Irapuato implements student scholarships and community service programs

The municipal government of Irapuato has implemented several social and administrative initiatives. Through the ‘Beca Sí’ program, the city invested 1.86 million pesos to provide scholarships to 400 high school and university students, aiming to reduce school dropout rates. Beneficiaries include students from the Universidad de León, Instituto Irapuato, Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, and the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Irapuato.

In rural areas, the ‘Miércoles Ciudadano’ program was brought to Venado de Yostiro, providing essential services such as civil registry documents, marriage and birth registrations, and medical and dental care. Additionally, the local Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) is advocating for the ‘Plan México’ to bring infrastructure and health investments to the city, specifically requesting the construction of a new hospital.

Regarding public works and culture, the city is maintaining a permanent pothole repair operation to address damage caused by the rainy season. For upcoming celebrations, the municipality announced the ‘Bando Solemne’ program for Mexican Independence Day in September, though specific musical artists and costs have not yet been disclosed. The city also promoted the ‘Corre entre la vida y la memoria’ night race scheduled for October 31 to celebrate Day of the Dead.
