Irapuato Unveils Six Master Plans for Sustainable, Innovative City Development
The municipal government of Irapuato presented six comprehensive Master Plans that will guide the city’s growth toward 2050. Mayor Lorena Alfaro García highlighted the documents as a long‑term roadmap for a more competitive, resilient and inclusive urban environment.
The plans include: a historic‑centre redevelopment strategy; the “Gran Manzana” plan to revitalize the stadium area with new public spaces, bike lanes and modern mobility; a Knowledge‑Innovation corridor to boost research and entrepreneurship; the “Parques 2050” system creating a network of green spaces and ecological corridors; a Municipal Climate Action Programme targeting emission reductions and green infrastructure; and a Citizen‑for‑Peace governance model aimed at strengthening social cohesion. The initiatives were drafted with input from citizens, universities, businesses and technical experts, and are intended to provide continuity for future administrations.
