Irapuato, Mexico Reports Significant Drop in Homicides and Thefts for June 2026

The municipal Secretary of Public Security in Irapuato announced that official crime statistics for June 2026 show a sharp decline compared with May. Intentional homicides dropped by 33% (from 18 to 12 cases) and negligent homicides fell 31%; injuries decreased 7% with 160 complaints recorded.

Property crimes also fell: residential burglary down 39% (14 cases), pedestrian robbery down 50% (2 cases), vehicle theft down 37% (15 cases), business robbery down 13% (73 cases), and extortion down 22% (21 investigations). Motorcycle theft rose slightly to 40 cases. No kidnappings were reported. Authorities logged 255 family‑violence complaints and one femicide. The reductions were attributed to a security strategy coordinated among municipal, state and federal governments and increased surveillance and prevention measures.
