Irapuato Municipal Government Launches Multiple Community Improvement Projects

The municipal administration of Irapuato, led by President Lorena Alfaro García, announced a series of local development actions. In the Ganadera neighbourhood, the government supplied 200 cement bags to finish the long‑awaited Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús chapel, a project residents have pursued for 26 years. A municipal official noted, “It is a collaborative work, not only of the municipal government but also of the community.”

In parallel, the city’s Urban Development Directorate, together with telecom companies, began weekly maintenance of aerial cable lines on Avenida Revolución, removing obsolete infrastructure and reorganising remaining cables. Director Paola Berenice Frausto Reyes said, “This program allows us to improve the urban image by removing outdated cables and orderly arranging those in service.”

The municipal government also reinforced cultural preservation by formalising a partnership with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH). INAH director Guillermo González León visited Irapuato to coordinate future restoration, research and conservation projects for historic sites.

Finally, the “Miércoles Ciudadano” citizen‑service program was temporarily suspended for the institutional week and will resume on 12 August, offering residents direct access to health, education, security and social services.
