Severe weather causes flooding and landslides in central Mexico

Severe weather across central Mexico has caused significant infrastructure damage and localized emergencies. In Querétaro, municipal authorities responded to nine reports of flooding, landslides, and water entering homes. One notable incident involved the rescue of a man trapped near train tracks due to rising water levels.

In Jiutepec, Morelos, intense rainfall and a heavy hailstorm covered streets, vehicles, and commercial areas in ice, causing flooding and property damage.

In Irapuato, Guanajuato, heavy rains triggered a landslide that caused six vehicles at a Volkswagen dealership to fall approximately 20 meters into an adjacent construction site. Local authorities confirmed the building had valid permits, and investigations are ongoing to determine if the nearby construction work contributed to the collapse.
