Iraq PM Ali Zeydi urges Chevron to speed up oil investments

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zeydi visited Chevron’s headquarters in Texas during a U.S. trip, meeting with senior executives including board member Mark Nelson. The talks focused on expanding Iraq’s crude‑oil output, increasing refinery capacity, building new pipeline and storage projects, and opening additional export routes. Zeydi said the Iraqi government is ready to give investors full incentives and support to accelerate petrochemical, natural‑gas and technology projects, emphasizing that new investments would boost employment and the national economy.

Chevron responded that it is prepared to invest further in Iraq’s southern oil fields, develop regional pipeline links to ports and construct storage facilities, aiming to complete projects more quickly. Local sources expect more than 18 bilateral agreements to be signed between Iraq and the United States as a result of the visit.
