Iraq sets September 30 deadline for International Coalition withdrawal
Iraqi officials have confirmed that the International Coalition is scheduled to complete its withdrawal from Iraq by September 30. This timeline follows the conclusion of the coalition's combat mission against ISIS.
President Nizar Amidi emphasized that Iraq's foreign policy is guided by the principle of 'Iraq first.' He stated that the government is working to ensure the state maintains an exclusive monopoly on weapons, a move he described as a national decision. Amidi also noted that Iraq has communicated with Iran regarding the necessity of reviewing bilateral relations.
Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji of the Ministry of Defense stated that Iraqi security forces are fully prepared to manage national security and border protection independently. While the combat mission is ending, the Ministry indicated that Iraq will continue to seek international cooperation in areas such as military training, capacity building, and the development of air and air defense capabilities.
