Iraq seizes millions in cash and gold in oil ministry corruption case

The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council has announced the seizure of significant assets in a corruption case involving Adnan al-Jumaili, the suspended Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Liquidation Affairs, and his accomplices.

In coordination with the Kurdistan Region, investigators seized approximately 20.34 million US dollars, 200 million Iraqi dinars, and 60 kilograms of gold. Additionally, seven vehicles were confiscated. The assets were recovered as part of an investigation into financial waste resulting from projects executed by the accused and their associates.

Judicial authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to pursue other involved parties. Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi reaffirmed the government's commitment to its reform program, emphasizing the coordination of oversight agencies and law enforcement to combat corruption and prosecute offenders.
