Iraq's Khor Mor Gas Deliveries Disputed by Kurdistan Government
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) publicly rejected the claim by Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum that gas deliveries from the Khor Mor field began on 4 August 2026. The operators announced the start of shipments to Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity for a power plant in Kirkuk province, but the KRG said it had not approved or authorized the launch and was only informed at the time of the announcement, alleging a breach of its contractual authority.
The gas supply agreement, signed in December 2025, provides for up to 100 million standard cubic feet per day for one year, following the KM250 expansion that raised Khor Mor’s processing capacity to 750 million scfd. The KRG had previously requested additional volumes to support regional power infrastructure, while the operators highlighted the deliveries as a milestone for the Kurdistan gas sector amid ongoing security challenges in the region.
