Ireland and Northern Ireland launch €26m sustainability fund
A €26 million Shared Island Sustainability Challenge Fund has been launched to support industrial decarbonisation across Ireland and Northern Ireland. The initiative, part of the Shared Island Enterprise scheme, aims to help manufacturers reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and develop low-carbon technologies.
The fund is being delivered jointly by Enterprise Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland, and InterTradeIreland, with €13 million allocated to each jurisdiction. It targets collaborative, first-of-a-kind projects in four priority areas: flexible industrial electrification, hard-to-abate climate technologies, water efficiency, and circularity, resource efficiency, and the bioeconomy.
Launched by Taoiseach Micheál Martin alongside Minister Peter Burke and Northern Ireland Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald, the program builds on previous investments, including €20 million in sustainability capital grants announced in December 2025. The goal is to strengthen manufacturing competitiveness while delivering measurable environmental benefits for the all-island economy.
